تستعمل will في اللغة الإنجليزية كذلك للتعبير عن الآمال والتوقعات و الأفكار عن المستقبل. تستعمل بعد أفعال مثل:
Assume, believe, doubt, express, hope, reckon, suppose, think, be sure, be afraid
ومع الظروف مثل:
Perhaps, possibly, probably, definitely
I expect they'll be here soon
Do you think she'll bring her boyfriend

نستعمل will للتعبير عن المستقبل في الجمل التي تحتوي على كلوز clause خاص الزمن أو صيغة الشرط
We use "will" in sentences containing clauses of condition or time.
If I get that job, I'll go out and celebrate
I'll phone you when I get there.

للتعبير عن نية حينما يكون القرار قد اتخذ لحظة الحديث
To express an intention when the decision is made at the time of speaking.
A: there isn't any milk left
B: Oh, isn't there? I'll get some in town. I'm going there later on.

I'll do it for you, I promise (وعد)
Will you open the door, please? (طلب)
I'll look after the children for you. (تقديم مساعدة)

I'll definitely tell him the truth this time (تصميم, عزم)
Stop that or I'll call the police (تهديد)

استعمال shall في اللغة الإنجليزية

في اللغة الإنجليزية المحكية, تستعمل shall بشكل كبير في الأسئلة مع i و we لتقديم اقتراحات أو مساعدة
أو لطلب اقتراح أو مساعدة
Shall I come with you?
What shall we do tomorrow?

عادة ما تستعمل shall للتعبير عن تصميم قوي للقيام بشي ما سواء عن نفسك أو عن شخص آخر.
I shall go anyway. I don't care what you think
I shan't let him bully me.

يمكن استعمال shall بنفس طريقة استعمال will مع ضمير المخاطب.
لكن will أكثر شيوعا في اللغة الإنجليزية من shall
في اللغة الإنجليزية المنطوقة, يستعمل الاختصار 'll بشكل أكثر شيوعا.
الكلمة shall تستخدم في الكتابة باللغة الإنجليزية الرسمية أكثر مقارنة مع اللغة الإنجليزية الغير الرسمية المنطوقة والمكتوبة.
